My Doula (then-not-now cause this mama is done having babies), Haize Rosen, posted a wonderful article recently on her FB page.  Seems like the rest of the world finally has the scientific proof they need to realize that holding, loving and nurturing a small child is OK, in fact, it’s BEST!  What I love about this study is that it debunks all of the modern wives tales (leftover from the late ’60s early ’70’s no doubt), that make mothers feel guilty for doing what comes natural such as nursing past 6 months, allowing toddlers to co-sleep, picking up crying infants on cue and generally holding and snuggling with our very own children.

I can’t count the number of times I heard “just let her cry it out” or “if you let her in your bed she’ll never leave.”  Well guess what…I picked them up when they cried and the hubby and I let them sleep in our bed when they wanted….and guess what…they are just fine! Hold on, they are BETTER than just fine.  This article makes me wanna stick my tongue out like a 3 year old…..ha….science is now on my side!

TwitChange, Haiti & a Few Photos I Snapped ;)

In Haiti, Media on September 17, 2010 at 6:47 pm

This week our church here in Atlanta, Courageous, and our Pastor, Shaun King are in the midst of a one of a kind celebrity auction via Twitter.  I mean this thing, TWITCHANGE, is BIG!  Growing bigger everyday! And today Shaun went on CNN to promote the project to the world.

In the midst of my being excited about all of the good coming from this auction for the children of the Miriam Center in Northwest Haiti, I also had the good fortune of seeing my photographs featured during the segment on national television.  I never ever thought that something that was pretty private, would get this kind of exposure and I’m thrilled that it happened in connection with Haiti and the missionary work we are all doing on behalf of the kids there.

Wow.  It’s been a win-win day! (Click here to view the interview).

Annett Davis, Olympian and Blogger at Fit Moms, Fit Kids

Every now and then you meet a truly phenomenal woman.  One of those sista-friends who seems to be able to juggle the hustles of mommyhood, working and simply being a wife with grace and style.  Well if you add to that list, also able to be an Olympian, then you have my friend Annett Davis!

Years ago I had the chance of seeing her in action on the beach volleyball court.  Let me tell you, I felt like a groupie because I couldn’t take my eyes off her stomach.  Sure her game was fierce, but I kept saying to another friend “Look at those abs!”  Recently Annett launched a great great website, Fit Moms, Fit Kids, and I must say, she’s found her calling.  She wants all of us to get it together when it comes to our health and wellness and I am allowing her to be my Pied Piper into the land of fitness.

Ok, so I will never have your stomach….not in a milion years, but Annett, girl you are one fierce, spiritually grounded, homeschooling, volleyball playing, once a month cooking, blogging, super fit mama! So proud of you and the new blog.
